Getting Started
How long has Energy Solutions been in business?
- Energy Solutions was formed in
early 2002. Since that time it has been our pleasure to serve
literally hundreds of business & residences in the Central
Virginia area and throughout the mid-Atlantic states with
various cleaning & coating opportunities.
What type of warranty does Energy
Solutions offer on its various products & services?
- We offer a full, no questions asked, money back
guarantee if you are not completely satisfied with the quality
and value of our work! By the same token, if you are as
satisfied, as we believe you
will be, then we hope you would refer your friends &
business associates so that we might offer them the same great value
and results you enjoy.
How does the HVAC/R cleaning & coating process save energy & money?
How much money/energy can I expect to save? Are there any HVAC/R size limitations--large or small--that
might prevent them from being coated?
- As described in the HVAC/R portion of this site, heating
via heat pump, and traditional air conditioning are accomplished by
moving heat from one point to another--out of the house or
building in the summer; and into the building or residence in
the winter. Both of these processes rely on
aluminum & copper "coils" to move & dissipate the heat, very
much like the radiator in one's car. Whether the unit is large
or small, two
sets of coils--one on the inside of the structure (the
"evaporator") and one on the outside (the
"condenser")--operate in conjunction with the unit's "compressor" to
move & remove heat. Unfortunately, aluminum & copper,
although excellent conductors of heat are also highly susceptible to
corrosion, pitting and oxidation. While these corrosive effects are bad
enough by themselves, once degraded, microscopic surface pitting
traps air-borne items such as pollen,
bugs, dirt, mold, mildew, etc. further compromising the
unit's ability to dissipate heat. Thus a dirty unit must work
significantly harder and longer, consuming more and more electricity &
associated expense,
to achieve the desired heating or cooling settings.
Equally
important in this process,
these same coils are also the HVAC/R unit's means of cooling
itself and its most critical component, the compressor. Thus, on
very hot days requiring high HVAC/R usage, the dirty coils cannot
effectively cool the unit and its vital compressor. In these
situations, the compressor often overheats and fails, typically on the
"hottest day of the year." And statistics have shown,
that a failed compressor, resulting from a dirty HVAC/R unit
coil, is the NUMBER ONE
cause of HVAC/R failure and replacement!
Our cleaning process effectively removes all of the contaminants
mentioned above--mold, mildew, corrosion, oxidation, pollen,
etc. And, once cleaned, our patented siloxane coating, only 3-5
MICRONS thin (the human hair is approximately 40
microns), prevents recurring corrosion & oxidation while
actually improving the air flow across the coil. Thus, our
cleaning & coating process removes these energy-robbing
contaminants and keeps them from
returning forever, saving between 10% and 40% on the energy and
costs of a dirty unit, while often doubling the unit's life. In fact, we have many
cleaned & coated HVAC/R units that have been
operating for more than 20 years while their uncoated
counterparts have each failed one or more
times.
My HVAC service company is not aware of any products that can do
what you claim for an A/C (or heat pump) unit. Why should I believe
you?
- It has been our experience that most HVAC companies are
completely unaware of this particular cleaning & coating process and its effects--they
are aware of and often offer unit/coil cleaning services. But, without
our patented coating to prevent coil re-oxidation and corrosion, the
effects are quite limited and will require frequent and cleaning
to achieve the same effects as our service. In fact, we often
come across HVAC/R units that have been severely damaged and
fail due to frequent/excessive over cleaning, all of which could
have been prevented by our one-time service!
How long do your siloxane coatings last on floors? How does one
maintain a coated floor?
- Floors suffer a hard life, and coated floors are no
exception. However, our siloxane coatings are extremely hard &
durable, and one
coat can withstand up to 285,000 footsteps in any given square
unit of area (two coats can withstand up to 400,000 footsteps). In fact, we have numerous customers where
floors coated 5-plus years ago still look like the day
they were coated. Additionally, in areas such as the grout lines, where feet & shoes never
really touch the coated surface,
the coatings should last a lifetime with reasonable care &
maintenance. In residential situations, we have installations where no signs
of wear & tear are evident even after 8 years!
What types of floors materials can you coat?
- Energy Solutions can
& does routinely coat: ceramic tile, terrazzo
(epoxy & concrete), concrete, brick,
stone, slate, composition,
aggregate, etc. Additionally, we have also coated
old asbestos tile flooring, thereby eliminating the need to have
this floor removed from the facility with all of the associated
environmental factors & costs.
Do you offer a FREE, NO OBLIGATION estimate for your various
services?
- Yes, Energy Solutions always offers an onsite inspection
& FREE, NO OBLIGATION quote before
performing any of the services discussed herein. Based on our
experience, each situation has its own special circumstances
& challenges that often affect the level of services required, and we
try very hard to avoid the unexpected "add-ons" that always seem
to arise with our competitors in specialty cleaning services
such as these.
A "self-cleaning" coating sounds pretty far fetched!! How does
it work??
- I must admit, we were quite skeptical of this claim when we first
learned of this coating. However, once we did our research and
reviewed various articles in highly credible publications such as
ABC News
and
Popular Science Magazine
we began to understand and endorse
the technology behind the claim (please see our
Coatings page for more
information). More importantly, we now have five (5) plus
buildings in the Richmond area that have been coated for 2-plus
years with our self-cleaning technology, and thus far have been
quite impressed with the results. We will post additional
information on this website as it becomes available, but would
be happy to discuss your particular situation & requirements if you would please complete
& submit our
"Contact Us" form.
